Our beloved town of Fort Collins, Colorado, offers a unique blend of historic ambiance, natural beauty, culture, and recreation. Informally called "Fort Fun," our town is known for its dog-friendly nature and kind-hearted citizens. With its Old Town District of restored Victorian-era buildings, teeming with shops and restaurants, the city holds onto its small town charm while offering the conveniences of a small city. Sprinkled with many square miles of parks and natural areas, you don't have to go far to find a quiet respite. Home to Colorado State University and the CSU Rams, this grown-up college town is truly a pleasant place to be.

In the heart of town, you will find City Park with its lovely lake, mountain vistas, and numerous fields and courts for playing softball, baseball, soccer, football, basketball, tennis, ultimate Frisbee, and even golf. On the northern side of town, kids seem to never tire of riding the ponies at the Martinez Park Farm & Petting Zoo. Everyone enjoys a visit to the Avery House, the Swetsville Zoo, or Fort Collins Museum. Downtown there is always some festival or celebration going on, including free outdoor concerts on Tuesday nights during the summer, New West Fest, and the annual Colorado Brewer's Festival. Over at our own Lincoln Center, you can immerse yourself in our cultural events like the annual "Art-Wear" fashion show or the Sustainable Living Fair, listen to our symphony or catch a play. In our beautiful neighborhoods, you can take part in a tour of historic homes or award winning gardens. For further information on upcoming events, please check our Fort Collins Calendar.

Tucked in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Fort Collins is the perfect place for the outdoor enthusiast. Challenging mountain bike trails and moderate hiking can be found just minutes from town in Lory State Park or Horsetooth Mountain Park, on the west side of the serene Horsetooth Reservoir. The Cache-La Poudre River that winds through town from the canyon a few miles to the north offers recreation for kayakers, fly fisher-folks, and whitewater rafters, alike. Serious drivers will find challenging canyon runs within minutes of our town and two permanent road courses with scheduled events almost every weekend from April through September. A few miles up the Poudre Canyon, hikers and campers can enjoy the beautifully scenic hike up the Greyrock Trail. Southwest of Fort Collins, bird-watchers and botanist can take pleasure in a leisurely stroll through hogback rock formations that make up Devil' s Backbone. Only a few hours' drive from the Fort, skiers and snowboarders will find all the luxuries of most of Colorado's famous mountain resorts. Rocky Mountain National Park is a short 90-minute or less drive through the beautiful river-cut, steep walls of the Big Thompson Canyon.

No matter what you like to do, fishing and hunting, hiking and camping, running and rafting, biking and kayaking, playing golfing or tennis, or going to concerts and plays, Fort Collins has it all. But don't take our word for it; see it for yourself. Come for a visit; we'd love to show you around
