Working with water in the imaging arena has its unique set of challenges. To convey the function of a showerhead or foot spa and suggest the experience it can elicit - relaxation, refreshment, exhilaration takes more than a keen eye behind the camera. In fact, it takes organization, dedication and skill with people and products.
To capture streams and sprays and bubbles in action for use on a cardboard package - this is a work of art, experience, and a bit of mechanical instinct. Inspiring the audience to think "yes, I want that 'feeling'" requires a certain respect for simplicity. The "ahhhh" that often happens subliminally. In a world with images screaming for attention, I strive to make the product heard: "Buy me, I will delight you." My approach is to delight the viewer with quiet but insistent images.
At Cambon, our images evoke emotion and, ultimately, sell products with the power of simple beauty. By distilling the product to the smallest number of shapes and features, concentrating the viewer's attention to key surfaces with light and reflection we bring products to life and set them apart from their competition. Combined with the brilliant designs of Sam Cooper, images are so effective that a buyer for a major chain commented "this package is so good we could sell it with nothing inside." That said, he signed a two million dollar contract.
WaterPik and Sam Cooper Design have entrusted expressions of form and function to Cambon since 1984. From electronic toothbrushes to air filters, virtually all of their products have passed through our studio. If you've seen WaterPik packaging, you've experienced the Cambon touch behind it.
